what is water baptism?

Baptism is one of the most significant acts we take in our life. It symbolizes your identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus instructs His followers to go and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward transformation—a public confession of the work that Christ has already done in your heart. By being baptized, you are telling the world that you are a follower of Jesus, committed to living out your faith.

We believe baptism is more than just a symbol. It’s a celebration of moving from death to life! As Colossians 2:12-14 reminds us, when we enter the water, it represents our old life being buried, and as we come out of the water, it’s like being raised into a new life, just as Christ was raised from the dead. Baptism is a powerful declaration that the old has passed away and the new has come (2 Corinthians 5:17)!

Why Do We Do It Publicly?

Baptism is not meant to be done in secret—it’s a public declaration of faith. When you’re baptized in front of others, you’re asking your church community to hold you accountable for your commitment to follow Christ. It’s an opportunity to boldly proclaim, “I am a new creation in Christ - watch what He's about to do!” Being baptized in front of others encourages them, strengthens your resolve, and aligns your life with the testimony you are sharing.

We believe this public step is crucial for living out your faith in community, just as God intended. It’s not just about a private decision—it’s about sharing your faith, celebrating new life in Christ, and inviting others to support you as you grow in your walk with Him.

why are legacy blessings important?

...Because raising a child is one of the most sacred responsibilities God entrusts to us. A Legacy Blessing creates space to intentionally dedicate your child to the Lord, pray the protection of the blood of Jesus over their life, and commission you as parents to lead them in faith.

Children are a gift from God, and building a legacy doesn’t happen accidentally — it happens through prayer, intention and obedience. Whether this is your first child or your family is growing, we pause to bless your baby and strengthen you in the calling you carry.

At Impact Church, we are honored to stand with you as you begin — or continue — that legacy.

what is a legacy blessing?

A Legacy Blessing is a sacred and intentional moment where we dedicate your child to the Lord and commission you as parents in the calling God has entrusted to you. Scripture reminds us that children are a gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3), known and formed by Him from the very beginning (Psalm 139:13–16). During this time, we pray over your child, declaring the protection of the blood of Jesus over their life and asking for God’s covering, guidance, and favor as they grow into all He has designed them to be.

At the same time, we recognize that raising a child in faith is a holy responsibility. Deuteronomy 6:6–7 calls parents to impress God’s Word upon their children in everyday life, and Proverbs 22:6 reminds us to train them in the way they should go. A Legacy Blessing is not just about a single prayer—it is about establishing spiritual covering, inviting accountability, and committing to raise your child within a faith-filled community. As a church family, we stand with you, strengthening you in prayer and supporting you as you build a legacy rooted in Christ.
